The Grass is Always Greener and the Morning Commute

I would say that I spent the majority of my life wishing for something different. A better body, trendier clothes to go along with my better body, nicer car, bigger house, better job, different past, better soccer ball control, etc. It was a bit keeping up with the Joneses and the grass is always greener, but mostly deep dissatisfaction.

My husband sent me this e-mail today.

Subject: if you need me

Email me at my work address, I forgot my phone charger this morning and I don’t have a ton of battery so I shut it down.  I also hit and killed a squirrel on my bike this morning and I didn’t properly flush out my camel back and my first swig of water was black/brown in color and probably contained a thousand spores of mold…  Its gonna be a great day!

I know I shouldn’t, but I can’t stop laughing. It’s moments like these that I realize, the Joneses are overrated and the grass may be green, but our grass is pretty ok. And hilarious, our grass is pretty darn hilarious.

PS. I would like to say the no squirrels were harmed today, but apparently the world lost a Chester the squirrel today.  As my husband put it, hopefully it was quick and painless.

PPS.  You’ll be pleased to know despite the very unfortunate demise of 1 squirrel on my husband’s commute to work this morning, there are 4 more squirrels hanging out on our front lawn.  I’m not sure if I should be happy that there is not a squirrel shortage or scared.
